Hi, I read in the documentation about a new feature that allows visualisations to work without listening to the audio/mic input, however this is what I want to do... is this possible with AudioCodex???
Thanks
Superman
Hi Superman,
Sorry, I'm a little confused by your request: do you want to visualize the audio input from the microphone? Or without? Please clarify so we can respond.
Cheers,
I want to visualise the mic or line input rather than what the computer is playing. I want to set up a few visualisations to display while DJing (preferably rotating the differnt types). Not sure if this program is really what I'm looking for, but it's really cool nevertheless!
The short answer is yes, you can certainly do what you are asking, however you will need to tweak the qtz files that produce our visualizations.
Do you have any experience with Quartz Composer? If not, I suggest you dive in and start exploring it. It is trivial to add an Audio Input patch to our visualizers to derive input from the microphone.
All you need to do is install Quartz Composer, included on your Mac OS X installer disc, in the Xcode tools. Then you will have the ability to open and edit all of our visualizers.
Cheers
That's cool! Now I know it's possible I shall give it a shot when I get a chance. I'll let you know how I get on!
Cheers!
I too, just want to have a visualizer running of my audio input. How do I make this work?
I've installed the trial version of AudioCodex, picked the Apple Music Visualizer, now how do I make it "visualize" my live input?
I'm not interested in creating my own visualizers, I'm happy to use the bundled ones.
Thanks
Interestingly, this is a feature which we removed from our visualizers only recently. We removed it because it caused problems on systems without an audio input, like Minis and Mac Pros.
As this seems to be a popular request, I have posted a set of our visualizers with default audio input patches, you can find them here:
MCompositions.zip
I have prefixed each composition's name with "M" so you can tell these visualizers apart from the internal audio versions.
To install them, simply drop the files into Users/<your username>/Library/Application Support/AudioCodex/Compositions and relaunch AudioCodex.
Let me know how you go!
Thanks you Alex. I got it up and running now. Using a Macbook Pro and a Mini. (no idea what you meant about those not having an audio input, they sure do)
Cheers,
Pete
Sorry Pete, I meant no microphone on the Mini and Mac Pro tower, and hence no default input.
