Nice to finally find a player with good graphical AU-plug-in support!
I am now in the testing phase and it sure is nice that it lets me use a good parametric Eq plugin (Eqium), which I use for both roomcorrection and correction of some old recordings. (without fiddling with Jack/Jackpilot and a second audiosoftware with tons of settings to be made each time...)
I will manily use it to play Cd:s and ripped Cd:s, vinyl and other recordings. Much of it is acoustic live recordings.

And here is where I immediately found a problem with AudioCodex, in that it seems to be incapable of seamlessly playing tracks without interuption/gap in between them. This is highly irritating when a concert is divided into several tracks with music not pausing in between.

Please try to find a sollution to this problem.
A serious music player must be able to play recordings divided into sequential tracks without interruptions.

Also: it would be nice if AudioCodex would sense that an audio Cd was inserted/ejected and load it automatically so that playing of these would be not so tricky. Especially ejecting it is tricky.

Also2: it would be nice if the currently playing song title "name" could be printed in larger text, when using a small monitor viewed on a distance.

Other than this it looks very promising indeed.
All the best, Roger Jönsson, Sweden.
Hi Roger,

Re Gap-less playback, this is something we are actively working towards; AudioCodex was initially created as a strictly 'single-track / single-file' player / editor, with playlist-style auto-advance during playback as an added convenience. True 'gap-less' playback requires a substantial rethink of both the playback engines and the track database interfaces to support multiple concurrent tracks, as this is really what is involved with gapless playback. The code to achieve this is in progress, but not yet ready for primetime; when it debuts ( hopefully by version 1.6x ) you will be able to specify any gap size you choose, including auto-cross-faded negative gaps, as well as no-fade 'zero-gap' playback.

Re CD's: I'm the first to admit that AudioCodex could deal more gracefully with AudioCD's, most probably because I myself rarely use them these days Smile However, we are aware of our shortcomings in this area, and have been deepening AudioCD support incrementally in recent updates, with more on the way in the next few versions.

AudioCodex already has a Preference on the 'General' tab that will allow it to automatically add /remove Watched Folder references for Audio CD's as they are inserted / ejected (only while AudioCodex is already running ). This is intentionally limited to actual AudioCD formatted CD's, not data CD's; we elected to impose this limitation as there is no way in code to reliably distinguish a data CD from any other mounted volume, which could lead to the app inadvertently recursing through your 300GB backup drive each time you connect it. As a consequence, data CD's must be added manually as Watched Folders or AudioCodex playlists.

Problems with Ejecting CD's: If you have started playing a track from a CD in AudioCodex, MacOS won't let you eject the CD, and will alert you that the disc is in use, even if the track isn't currently playing (i.e paused). This is because once AudioCodex loads a media file, it never unloads the file from memory until you:

a) start playback of another track / file
b) use the 'Stop Playback' menu item in the 'Control' menu
c) Quit AudioCodex

To be able to eject the CD in these circumstances, first use the 'Stop Playback' item in the Control menu before attempting to eject the CD. If that fails, a workaround is to start playing another track 'not' from the CD. Either action will cause the currently loaded track to be unloaded from memory, which should free the CD up for ejecting. Note also that while we don't have an 'Eject CD' function in AudioCodex itself just yet, we will be adding this in the next release or so.

Re Text size, in Preferences, under the 'Appearance' tab, you can control the size of the fonts used in the Source and Play lists.

Thanks for your comments, observations and requests, hope this information is of use.

Thank you for the response.
Sounds like you were already working on it. Great! -Just registered!

I expressed myself unclearly on the font size. I meant the size of the currently playing track (number and name), in the transport panel.
Hi Roger,

OK, now I gotcha... there's no way currently for a user to change that particular font size, and there are some space limitations in the current layout that prevent it from going much larger, but I will see what I can do about giving some form of control over this aspect of the display.

Cheers

Mark
