I am evaluating AudioCodex for use in my small church. We do not have an organist, and I record the music for our hymns and liturgy in advance. The people I have running the audio vary in their technical abilities. I want it to be extremely simple.
They features that I need in this setup:
* Ability to control the playlist with arrow and enter keys
* Ability to set and save equalizer settings.
* Ability to adjust the speed and/or pitch of an individual track in a playlist, and have those settings remembered (this is a nice to have, not a need to have).
That way, I setup the playlist before the service, and they can use the arrow keys to select a track, and enter to play it. Can't get much more simple than that.
AudioCodex is almost there for me, from what I can tell. My chief problem is with the keyboard control of the playlist. When hitting "Enter", a playlist item will play just fine, but the OS X system alert sound also plays. That's obviously a show stopper.
There seems to be some general keyboard oddity caused by different modules intercepting the keypress events at the same time. For instance, when renaming a playlist, the keys are activating system functions as I type. Space actually starts or stops a track playing, as well as putting a space in the playlist name. This must be the cause of the system alert sound kicking off every time I press Enter. Some other module is reacting to the keypress event, and beeping because it can't do anything with it.
FYI - I am on Leopard.
