Hi -
AC has a couple of odd behaviours when adjusting the loop markers in real time i.e. while a track is playing.
- moving the in-marker some distance into the track causes AC to cease playing that track and to play the next instead, as if one had pressed the Next Track button.
- over time there are inconsistencies between actual loop points and the display, both w.r. to the in/out markers and the Inspector values, especially after real time adjustments. AC on occasion has insisted that the loop points are where they used to be, despite all interface displays to the contrary.
A small feature request: in fine loop marker adjustment I've found it not necessary to cue again from the beginning of the loop. All I want is a couple of seconds back from the Out point to check where the loop finishes, after each adjustment. The preference setting of "Cue from Out" isn't exactly clear to me: if it simply means "Start the loop at the In point for each adjustment of the Out point" then it's exactly what I don't want.
Hope this is useful.
Best wishes
Neville
Hi Noach,
Sorry for the slow reply, it's that time of year when things go nuts.
I haven't been able to replicate your first error, is it associated with a particular type of file? AC will auto-advance to the next track if it is in loop-playlist mode (grey loop button) and the out-marker is dragged to a time prior to the current play-time, but if you are in loop-single mode (black loop button) then no-auto-advance should ever occur.
I've verified that there are some irregularities with loop marking for Quicktime-played files, specifically, loops are not auto-re-cueing when adjusting the out-marker, only the 'in' marker. This will be fixed in the next update, for now I can only suggest manually forcing a re-cue by pause/playing the track.
Finally, WRT the 'Cue Loops from out-point' preference, the original idea of this was to cue from a user-definable amount of time prior to the out-marker. However, it appears that in the current release (0.96b) re-cueing is only happening for adjustments made to the 'in-marker, probably due to changes made a few iterations back in response to user feedback.
I think I will add another preference option so that the re-cue behaviour of the in and out markers can be set differently for both markers, ie re-cue from 'In' when 'In' is adjusted, re-cue from (just before) 'Out' when 'Out' is adjusted & vice versa.
Thanks for the report, we will address these issues soon, hopefully by the next release.
Cheers,

Hello Mark -
More on loop behaviour: I've been able to reproduce a couple of effects in both QT and CA modes as follows:
- In loop-playlist mode, moving the in marker causes the playback position to advance to the end of the track.
- In loop-single mode, doing the same thing results in a microloop at the end of the track.
- Switching loop modes while playing a track doesn't always result in expected behaviour. In particular, if in and out markers have been adjusted and moved back to their default positions at the beginning and end of the track respectively, a "memory effect" persists of previous marker settings without updating the apparent present position of the markers.
The type of file doesn't seem to have a bearing.
Best wishes for the new year
Noach
A bit more ....
- In loop-single mode, while track is playing, and with the out marker set somewhere into the track, adjust the out marker back towards the end of track. The playback head behaves as if the out marker was still at its previous position, at least while finishing the current repetition.

Hi Neville,
The new 0.97b release includes several fixes to loop-editing behavior, particularly for Quicktime files; it's still not perfect, but hopefully some of the issues you have reported have been eliminated or at least mitigated. If you are still experiencing some of the same issues, try deleting the Preferences file ( as detailed in
this post).
I aim to be fully on top of loop-editing behavior for all supported file formats by the next release.

Hello Mark,
More feedback on loop-track behaviour - CA mode single track loop button on.
Thanks for adding back the Cue from Out point preference. It doesn't appear to work, though. Each adjustment of the Out point restarts the entire loop at the In marker as before.
The "shadow" memory is still there under the following conditions:
- track is playing in CA mode between the two loop markers;
- adjust Out marker to the right i.e. further out;
- click somewhere near the Out marker while still playing to check the Out setting with a bit of pre-roll;
- repeat the last two steps: the track will play to a previous pre-roll point and restart - i.e. play will not make it to the new Out marker position before restarting.
Thanks though for a very useful practice tool for a Bb instrument muso like me! I can live with the software even as it is.
Best

Oops. A new prefs file got rid of that one!
Cue from Out with pre-roll still unresponsive.

Here's what happens on a freshly-imported loop, loop button on, CA mode, and all prefs and defaults set the way I would like to have them:
1. Begin by pressing Play
2. Move In Marker in. Track cues repeatedly from about 1% out from Out Marker. It should be cueing in this case from the In Marker.
3. Repeat 2 with the same unwanted result.
4. Move Out Marker inwards. Track (dis)obediently cues from In Marker, again unwanted. Repeat as necessary.
Hope this info's helpful
Best regards
Extra extra ... under same conditions, playing
5. Uncheck Cue From Out Marker preference
6. Now adjustments to either marker cue from In Marker. One of these is the odd man out.
7. Recheck Cue pref.
8. Adjust In Marker inwards. Loop cues from Out Marker .....
9. Adjust Out Marker. No Cue at all.

Hi Neville,
Thanks for all your feedback, the bugs you have described with loop-marking have now been fixed for the next release.
