Will you be implementing any other keyboard shortcuts besides the spacebar.
I'm think of functions such as
Reset to start of current track
The up and down arrows move the track selection line up and down. It would be nice to have a keyboard shortcut to select the track and then start it with the space bar.
Hi Cal,
Thanks, as always, for your thoughtful suggestion.
As you note, we do currently provide a keyboard shortcut using the up and down arrows to select the previous and next track, however the focus needs to be set by clicking in the track list before this will work. I think that what you are asking for is a way to set the focus on the track list using the keyboard only. Is that correct? The traditional shortcut for doing this in apps like NetNewsWire is the left/right arrow to move to the previous or next list.
I will see what we can do to implement this as I agree it would be a useful feature.
I think Reset to start of current track would be a useful shortcut also, and I propose Cmd-shift-comma as the shortcut, complemented by Cmd-shift-period for Start playing next track.
What do you think?
Hi guys,
Actually, the Return key already handles restarting from the selected track's loop-in, as does the 'Cue' function (CMD-L), but Cue always works on the loaded track only; Return will play the selected track, re-cueing from 'in' if that happens to be the loaded track but play is only partway through.
Cheers,
Mark

Cal says -- I think so. I'm a little confused by the terminology "focus". If you mean a keyboard equivalent for double clicking the mouse, then we are talking about the same thing. We need some keyboard way to focus on the track and then start playing the selection without going to the mouse. It could be something as simple as cmd-space bar. The first tap focuses the track and the second tap starts playing the track. Something like that.

Cal says -- I have no problem with moving from list to list this way.

Cal says -- I like using the comma and period because of the < and >. It would be better as Cmd-comma or Cmd-period. One less key to find and it could be done with one hand. Thumb on the Cmd key and fingers on the comma or the period.

Unfortunately Apple has reserved Cmd-comma for Application Preferences, and Cmd-period to stop current operations. So we will have to use another modifier.
