Hi,

Several users have reported problems with AudioCodex 1.1 on Tiger failing to load any playlists or display any windows after launch. While I posted a solution to this issue as a reply to my own announcement of version 1.1, replies don't show up in our RSS feed, so I am reiterating the symptoms and solution to this issue here as new thread.

We have identified the cause of this issue, it is due to a value being stored in Preferences in an inconsistent format by earlier versions of AudioCodex. When the new version of AudioCodex loads, if this value has been stored in the 'wrong' format by a previous version of AC, on Tiger, the main window will fail to display.

Note that Leopard users shouldn't experience this issue, as the Leopard framework for manipulating application preferences handles exceptions more gracefully than in Tiger.

There are two ways to solve this issue; the old-skool way is to quit AudioCodex, locate and delete the old preferences file and relaunch, as described in the forum post 'Deleting the Preferences File'.

As of AudioCodex 1.1 it is also possible to reset the Preferences to default values from within AudioCodex, even if the main window will not display.

To do so, in AudioCodex, go to the Help menu, and look for Advanced > Reset Preferences. After selecting the 'Reset Preferences' menu item, AudioCodex will present an alert message advising you that clicking OK will reset the preferences, and then quit & relaunch the app. Click OK, and when AudioCodex relaunches the issue should be resolved, and the app should behave as normal, although you will have to again customise any settings you made previously in the Preferences window.

Note that resetting the Preferences doesn't affect any of your playlists, watched folders, individual track settings or registration status, only the settings you apply via the Preferences window.

Cheers,
