Full Version: Several serious problems introduced with 1.1

I use Audio Codex for live performances in church.

In 1.1 there are a bunch of problems that were not present in 1.0

First, global track mixing volume does not work at all. It can be set on individual tracks only. When Global is turned on, the global volume reverts to 50% the moment any track is played.

Second, the play list behaves erratically. When reordering tracks, sometimes a duplicate of an existing track appears, and the one I dragged disappears.

Third, tracks now play from wherever they were paused last. In fact, it is not possible to get them to start at the beginning, unless the track completely plays through. Previously, when you selected a track, and hit Enter to play it, it would always play from the beginning. This is the correct behavior. If someone really wants the behavior in 1.1 where tracks play from when last paused, there should be some sort of "sticky" option for the tracks that needs to be set, rather than making all tracks remember where they were last paused.

Fourth, I have noticed several times when deleting a track, that Audio Codex will start playing the deleted track, even though it is no longer in the current playlist (or any playlist for that matter).

All of these behaviors were discovered on 10.5.3.

Please, please, please can you put up a download link for 1.0? 1.1 was a disaster in church today, and until the above is fixed, I can't use it. I no longer have a copy of 1.0. I really need 1.0 back before next Sunday, unless someone can suggest a way to fix the above problems.
Hi,

Sorry you ran into problems with 1.1, we are about to release an update that should address most of the issues you have observed, but if you want to downgrade to version 1.0 in the interim you can still download it from:

I'll follow up with some more specifics about the issues you mentioned in a further reply.

Some more more details on the issues you reported:

1) Global Mix Switch not working properly; this is fixed in the coming update. For now, check in Preferences > DSP > Default Mix Volume. This controls the mixer volume that will be applied to tracks when they are first played, changing this value might help, as it is currently what will be applied if a track has no stored volume setting.

2) Re playlist drag'n'drop behaviour, no changes were made to the code controlling this aspect between 1.0 - 1.1. AudioCodex is designed such that dragging tracks from one list to another makes a copy of the track info in the new list, and leaves the original dragged item in the same list that it originated from. I also haven't seen any particularly anomolous behaviours when drag-rearranging playlists today, but I will check it all out in more depth to see if I'm missing something.

3) Re tracks resuming playback from last time played, this was a new preference that was added internally but unfortunately exposing a checkbox for controlling this functionality in Preferences got overlooked. This oversight is fixed in the new update, the default value for this property has been changed to OFF, and the logic controlling auto-replay has also been toughened up.

4) Re deleted tracks still playing, I would guess that what is happening is that if you have been playing a track, then delete the track listing before starting another track, the previous file is still loaded into into memory, so hitting play again will resume playback of the apparently deleted track.

It would appear that I need to make my code actively unload an audiofile from memory as soon as it's track listing is deleted, rather than wait for another track to begin playback, which is how this has been handled in all versions of AC up to now.

Anyway, thanks for the report, sorry you had some problems with 1.1, 1.11 will be out in the next 24 hours or so and will definitely address issues 1 & 3, possibly also 4 now that you have pointed it out.
