I have several playlists, one in particular are my backing tracks (yes, I'm back) of which I have NONE selected (ticked), because that way the song I play is the only one played, right? It doesn't move on to another track while I'm grabbing my beer.
But it does- it starts playing the next (or first) track of any other Playlist that does have songs selected (ticked). So, say I have a playlist called "Restaurant Background" which is all James Taylor, etc with all the tracks ticked to provide continuous music for playing between my live brackets... if I play a backing track in Backing Track playlist, AC will automatically start playing the Restaurant Background tracks next.
In otherwords, it isn't playing back by separating the playlists. Make sense? Best I can figure is a single keystroke to "untick" or "tick" all the songs in that playlist. Is there one? (As against Select/Unselect). Or is there a better way?

I looked everywhere and didn't see this posted, hopefully I didn't miss it.

When I open AudioCodex, the FX chain doesn't show any available plug-ins. In fact, the whole FX section is grayed out (see attached pic). I have Logic 8, and all my AU plugs work fine.

Plugins were in the HD > Library > Audio > Components folder, so just to be sure I moved them to my home folder, no luck.

MacBook Pro, OS 10.5.6, AudioCodex 1.49.

I've had this issue since I first bought AC, deleted my prefs following the instructions on the forum and downloaded the latest version, but no luck.
Has anyone else had this issue?

Not changing audio interface

I been trialling AudioCodex and like it a lot. But as I have a couple of audio interfaces (Line 6 TonePort UX2 and Presonus Firebox) I often change my audio interface to which ever one I've got connected - as I'm playing my guitar with a track. In GarageBand I can select which audio interface to use - then I can use that in GB. I also have SoundSource (from Rogue Amoeba) that easily in the menu lets me select the audio interface to use for input, output and system sounds - saving launching Sys Pref panel and AudioMidi Setup.

In iTunes it recognises the change and I can then play my guitar into my MacBook through my audio interface and out into my powered speakers. And it will play both the Itunes stream and the real guitar stream out together. However, with AudioCodex (AC) it does not recognise the change of interface, and I have to quit AudioCodex and re-launch it. There is no where I have found to select the audio interface from within AC. It is because I want to jam along with a track in AC - where I can easily change the pitch and the tempo as well as loop parts to help practice.

Ideally. I'd like to see both features in a future release, but at present one of them would be a good step forward.

Thanks

I am unsure whether this is a AudioCodex bug or not. But I have been running my MacBook with a projector and not having the displays mirroring - putting the visualiser onto the projector screen and the main AC screen on the macBook screen which is the main screen (with OS X menu bar). In this set up the projector screen was positioned on the left of the MacBook Screen. All of the HUD displays (ie the visualiser, inspector, etc.) came up on the projector screen. This was a great use of AC (better than iTunes) as yu can have the visualiser displayed separately from the main app.

When I returned back to my desk I connected the macBook up to my monitor and again run the two displays without mirroring. This time the MacBook screen is to the right of the monitor and the monitor is the main screen (ie with the OS X Menu Bar).

My problem: I couldn't get hold of the inspector or the other HUD panels. They were still appearing to the left - except that there was no screen to the left on the main screen.

I'm not sure if you need to add something like "Gather all panels" to the menu.

The way I got around this problem was to logically move the Mac Book screen (in Dsiplays Prefs) to the left of the main screen grab the Inspector screen (in AC) and move it onto the main screen. Then logically move the Mac Book screen back to its normal position in Display Prefs.

It had me frustrated and confused for a while.

Thanks for a great app,

I was using AudioCodex version 1.47 happily, being glad to say that I found no bugs in the software. Once I switched to version 1.48, I noticed that the warp settings in the Inspector changed. When the lock is unlocked, both the time and pitch sliders work separately, as the should. However, the number indicating the pitch change has been darkened and is no longer clickable, as it was in version 1.47. Upon locking the lock, changing the time changed the pitch as it should, but the number indicating the pitch change became clickable again, allowing input of a numerical value. When using version 1.47, I valued this software because the time and pitch settings were able to be changed independently through the input of a numerical value while unlocked, thus avoiding moving the slider or changing the value by going through all the values in between the current value and the desired value, and avoiding the resulting mess of sound. Now, in version 1.48, while unlocked, the pitch can no longer be changed by inputing a numerical value. I wonder if this change is a bug or an accident, or is purposeful in the update. I found no mention of it in the release notes, so I assume the former. If there is an easy way to switch back to version 1.47, can someone please tell me, or can someone help me fix this problem?

I get the Mac Beach Ball of Death' spinning away. And spinning. And spinning. Even more spinning! There's only one thing to do to remedy this problem.......It's called 'Force Quit'.
Blimey, and I thought Skippy the Bush Kangaroo was annoying! And don't get me started on Sons and Daughter's, for Santa's sake!
Back to AC version 1.43 for me. Oh, yeah. And until this annoyance is resolved I refrain from wishing you a merry Christmas. So there!

Okay, I bought and registered Audio Codex and now I'm getting deeper into it- and finding a few problems (I think). Please help me out.
I'm using Audio Codex to play backing tracks from a Powerbook G4 while I play guitar and sing. AC allows me to use the Effects Chain and Mix controls on NON-global to individually tweak each backing track and try to keep some kind of consistency in volumes, tone, etc and make up for years of different systems and software I've used to create these tracks- some 110 in all. So far, it's kind of working.
So I have a single Playlist in alphabetical order that includes all my 110 tracks and many of them have small tweaks. Now, when I want to re-arrange my tracks into the order I'm actually performing them two things happen. When I click and drag a track up or down in the order and release the mouse, the track disappears from the list completely and is replaced by another track of no relevance whatsoever from the playlist- I can't figure out what parameters, if any, AC is using to choose and slot this unwanted/unselected track in there. The only way I can re-establish the lost track in the playlist is to replace it using a Finder Window (drag and drop) and that UNWANTED track is the put back where it came from alphabetically, but as a DUPLICATE. There are now TWO instances of that unwanted track.
Which brings me to the main question. How can I create new Playlists (e.g. a "loud" list, a "soft" list, a "restaurant" list) using my original Playlist with all my Effects Chain tweaks included? In other words, if I simply try to make a new Playlist using drag-and-drop from a Finder window I'm not including my Effects Chains and Mix Control settings for each individual track. If I try to re-arrange my original list I strike the problem above- it's unworkable and there doesn't appear to be any kind of Save AS function anyway.
And, by the way, when I first open my original playlist the tracks are not displayed in alphabetical order any more. This is easily fixed. but again I can't figure out what parameters AC is using to arrange the list in this order. If I knew, maybe it would answer some of the other problems, too.

Hope this is making sense,

Okay, so I'm wanting to use AudioCodex as my media player (still on trial) for playing backing tracks behind my guitar playing/singing at live gigs and it does heaps of neat things- but apparently not the one important thing... Despite my best efforts I can't maintain the best consistent volume in my backing tracks. Using a compressor in the FX Chain on Global helps, but some still need a volume tweak. I can do this by assigning the Mix Controls to NON-Global and setting the required volume for any individual track as required... and it all works. However, these volume tweaks are NOT saved when I exit the software. All tracks revert to the Default Volume when I re-open AudioCodex. I've tried Saving Tracks... no luck.
How can I tweak and save the volume on some tracks without using an FX Chain plug-in instead (because I need to keep that Global for the compressor)?
Alternative, why aren't the volume tweaks being saved?

Hi all,

I'm sorry to say loops do not really export properly, but have some silence attached to the end, thus rather spoiling the loopy experience ... Maybe it has to do with the Warp feature? I do not use loop export very much - most of the time I record the output signal with WireTap - so I just found out today.

In 1.4 and 1.41, when in a playlist with no tracks checked, any track that is played will play in a continuous loop. This happens no matter what loop mode is selected.

In 1.3, if no tracks were selected, and a track was played, only that track was played, and it was played only once. This is the behavior I would expect in 1.4. As it is, 1.4 is useless for live performances, because there is no longer a way to play a single track in a playlist just once.

I reset my preferences, but this didn't help. For now, I have reverted to 1.3.

I just upgraded to version 1.40 and have some issues with it.

1st of all when I start Audiocodex I don't get a view screen. To get the screen I have to hit "command 0". I then noticed that I could no longer see my looped files in the left hand browser. Starting up a couple of times I could see absolutely nothing i the left hand browser but that seems to be okay now. Oops, spoke too soon. I tried dropping a file in the audiocodex area of the left had browser. Closed audiocodex, opened it and the left hand browser is again blank. Tried it again and the browser came back but the file i added is gone.

From my perspective this is a pretty buggy upgrade. 1st one for me. The rest have all been very solid.

But...

Yesterday i´ve paid for a licence and it cames a few minutes later attach by email. That´s also great.

But licence procedure fails with an error. I think, my Name with "ö" is a problem?!
My Email from yesterday to support at machinecodex is without any answer till now. That´s not great.

A new, working licence will make me happy for now and forever. :-)

Hello everybody at MC,

here is my current list of little things:

When using the menu, the range for pitch adjustment is +/- one octave, just like it says on the website & in the manual. But the slider in the Warp pane stops at 300 ct in either direction, which is a pity. On the other hand, the number boxes will accept values considerably below or above 1200 ct; perhaps some cosmetic cleaning-up would be O.K. some time. And b.t.w., on the website it says "+/- 1200 Hz" ("Hz" instead of "ct"). Similarly, the speed control slider stops at 2x instead of 4x.
Saving presets for individual AUs does not work reliably, deleting presets not at all. Sometimes switching from the current AU interface's preset menu to the one in the FX Chain Inspector pane takes as long as 10 seconds and looks sort of dangerous.
When playing audio in non-loop mode with a longish pause set in preferences (> 1s), pausing playback via the space bar will crash the program. This is a pity, as setting a pause between tracks can be a rather convenient way to play single audio elements - just hit the space bar somewhere during the 3 (or whatever) seconds, select the next required track, and start it using the return key.
It would be very convenient indeed if per-track settings could show in the Inspector even when the track is not currently playing. As it is, all sliders &c. jump to their positions only the moment playback is started. (Sounds like a fiddly problem.)

Apart from this, it's great fun of course ...

Best wishes - Niko

Hi there. I have upgraded to the latest version. When I try and play any some from the iTunes library or music lists, I get a message that the file cannot be found. I have changed the location of where AudioCodex looks for the iTunes library, to no avail. In fact the location that AudioCodex says it is looking for the file is in a location that I used way back when I first installed an earlier version. That location no longer exists but AudioCodex seems to be stuck trying to find files there. The new location of my iTunes playlist and files is on a network drive, if that makes a difference...

I have deleted the Pref file numerous times, reinstalled the old version and the latest version of AudioCodex multiple times to no avail...

I am running OSx 10.5.4 on a MacBook Pro.

Thanks for your assistance.

In 1.2, I am still noticing some very erratic track reordering problems. There seems to be a one-off bug of some sort involved, but that is just speculation.

The symptoms: When I drag a new file into the playlist, and and then reposition it at the top of the playlist, the track often will not move, but instead the first item, and sometimes other ones, will show up twice in the play list. In order to correct this, AudioCodex must be restarted. At that point I can usually clean up the duplicates and reposition the newly added track.

This problem is difficult to reproduce, but I am still running into it on a fairly regular basis.
